Imcon is a boutique consulting company headquartered in the UK and with a registered subsidiary company in Rwanda. We enjoy a significant international reach, and through our network of close partnerships and associates, we significant capacity to support our clients with a range of services. Founded in 1989 as an Imperial College spinout, Imcon works with organisations across a broad scale, from start-ups and scale-ups, through SMBs, to corporates and Government.
What We Do
Our business consulting services include executive coaching, leadership development, strategic advice, innovation consulting and capacity building. Imcon has a particular interest and expertise in innovation in its broadest sense, encompassing innovation culture, methodologies, policies, and organisational context. We designed our services to help individuals, companies, and organisations to navigate the innovation landscape with impact, and to assist in the building of leadership capacity to support the innovation agenda.

Prof Keith Straughan
Founder and CEO
Our founder, Prof Keith Straughan, has held Faculty posts at prestigious UK universities alongside a range of entrepreneurial and business interests. He has founded eight companies and has also served on the Board of a variety of other companies. For Keith, the creative interplay between his academic and business interests is central to the success and effectiveness of the Imcon offer.
Harnassing his unique experience and proven track record, he designed his business coaching services to empower and challenge senior leaders in organisations to operate effectively and deliver tangible personal and business outcomes.
Keith has worked with CEOs, VPs and Directors of scale-ups in traditional and disruptive markets across the UK and Internationally, helping them to navigate the complexities of their operating context. With extensive knowledge and awareness of coaching approaches, he is not bound by one methodology, preferring to design a coaching intervention to deliver the best outcome for the client.
An EMCC Global accredited Senior Coach Practitioner and Fellow of the Institute of Coaching (Harvard University Medical School), Keith describes himself as instinctively a strengths-based coach drawing upon the insights of neuroscience and positive psychology, He assists clients to recognise the importance of maximising their inherent personal strengths and aligning them to deliver business outcomes.
Christine Straughan
Operations Director
Christine trained first as a biochemist before specialising in chemical pathology. She worked in hospital diagnostic laboratories before moving into research where she developed diagnostic markers for a range of cancers. This was followed by a move to one of the UK’s foremost regional cancer registries, studying the classification and epidemiology of tumours.
Christine then enjoyed a career shift into the charity sector where she has extensive experience of social support services in the UK, safeguarding processes and charity culture.
Christine has been intimately involved with Imcon since its inception in 1989 and has been a Director since 2018.
In addition to her lead role in the company’s operations, she is available to contribute to our offering in the non-profit/charity and Life Science/MedTech sectors.
Sandra Kanyange
Chief of Staff, Imcon Consulting (Rwanda)
Sandra Kanyange is the Chief of Staff in Imcon’s Rwanda Office.
Sandra is a dynamic Rwandan professional with a passion for driving meaningful change. She holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Rwanda and has actively participated in initiatives, events, and projects that empower communities.
Sandra joins Imcon with a wide array of accomplishments. Previously, she served as a Digital Fellow at the Ministry of ICT & Innovation (Rwanda ICT), working closely with the Minister and Permanent Secretary on initiatives focused on digital skills inclusion. She played a key role in programs aimed at equipping Rwandans with essential digital competencies, fostering innovation, and bridging the digital divide.
With experience spanning both the public and private sectors, Sandra has developed expertise in project management, strategic planning, and agile methodologies. As a certified Scrum Master, she excels in fostering collaboration, optimizing workflows, and ensuring efficient project execution.
Now serving as Chief of Staff at Imcon Consulting, Sandra is committed to enhancing organisational efficiency, strengthening client relationships, and driving strategic growth. Her mission is to help Imcon expand its impact, particularly in Rwanda and the African Continent, through innovative solutions and strong partnerships.
David Byabagamba
Regional Manager – Africa
David is a highly experienced strategic planning and project management specialist. As an enthusiast in the realms of data-driven Policy/Strategy/projects, David possesses a distinctive combination of expertise in strategy development and a keen focus on leveraging data analytics to improve policy/strategy/project outcomes.
David excels at identifying social issues and resolving them through the application of technology, innovation, and human talent. He approaches business and society with a fresh perspective, demonstrating innovative thinking and the ability to adapt to changing scenarios, particularly in the context of actively pursuing growth in overseas markets.
David has a proven track record of successfully overseeing projects from initiation to closure. His specialisation lies in implementing the PRINCE2 methodology to ensure projects are not only completed on time, but also within scope and to the highest quality standards.
His interests extend to seeing the bigger picture and crafting long-term plans to guide organisations in achieving their goals. He emphasises aligning strategies with overall business objectives and places significant importance on ethical judgment, underlining trust and integrity as fundamental principles in building and maintaining client relationships.
